Proposed acquisition of eight free weekly titles by Johnston Press plc from Trinity Mirror plc

Further to the announcement by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry on 3rd May 2002, which consented to the transfer of some of the eight free weekly newspaper titles owned by Trinity Mirror plc ('Trinity Mirror') to Johnston Press plc ('Johnston Press') and following discussions with Johnston Press, Trinity Mirror has decided to retain all eight titles.
