The Glaswegian will be
Britain 's first
free weekly newspaper to launch a commuter edition.
The Trinity Mirror title,
Scotland 's
biggest free weekly newspaper which is delivered direct to homes every Thursday
evening, will be distributing a new afternoon commuter edition from this
Thursday, 16 June.
Ten thousand copies of the new edition will be distributed every
Thursday between the hours of 4.30pm
and 6.30pm at key, high-density,
commuter points in the inner Glasgow
area.
Mark Hollinshead, Managing Director of Scottish Daily Record and
Sunday Mail Ltd, publishers of The Glaswegian, said: "The new edition will
significantly widen the appeal and coverage of The Glaswegian in the greater
Glasgow market to both readers and
advertisers alike.
"It is a market in which The Glaswegian is already the best-read
local newspaper and, with this new initiative, we are now on a pathway to
strengthening that market position."
Garry Thomas, Editor of The Glaswegian, said: "It's great to be
expanding the coverage of Glasgow 's
favourite local paper. With a print time of 3pm , and on the streets by 4.30pm , we will be first with the latest front page news
and sport for the Glasgow
commuter."
