Trinity Mirror appoints new editor of Daily Post Wales

Rob Irvine has been appointed as the new Editor of the Daily Post in Wales.
 
Rob, 39, is currently Acting Editor of the Liverpool Daily Post, covering Editor Jane Wolstenholme's maternity leave. Prior to that, he was Assistant Editor of the Liverpool Echo.
Rob replaces Ali Machray, who was named as the new Editor of the Liverpool Echo in May. He takes up his new role on August 15.
 
Mark Thomas, Assistant Editor of the Liverpool Daily Post, will become Acting Editor until Jane Wolstenholme's return later this year.
 
Rob has wide experience in a number of senior editorial roles, gained at several leading titles across the UK.
 
He began his newspaper career at the Warrington Guardian after graduating in history and politics from Sheffield University in 1987. He was News Editor of the Bradford Telegraph & Argus and Derby Evening Telegraph before moving into production journalism. He joined the Liverpool Echo in 2001 and was appointed Design Editor.
