The Birmingham News is being given a new look and a new
editorial focus from its September 8th edition.
The Trinity Mirror free weekly newspaper's new look includes new
branding and page re-design, even more relevant local news and information, plus
an essential leisure and entertainments section.
The Birmingham News will continue to provide city news to the
people of Birmingham. However, the introduction of three zoned editions will
allow editorial coverage to be very local, focusing on community and essential
information with true relevance for its readers.
The changes have been made to ensure the paper continues to meet
the needs of the diverse Birmingham suburbs it serves. They will also increase
value for advertisers, by ensuring the product delivers a more targeted
audience.
Clients will be able to take an advertisement in just one zone
or a combination depending on their catchment area.
In addition, packages can be bought with Trinity Mirror's other
weekly titles, such as the Sutton Coldfield News or Tamworth Times, to create
unrivalled coverage of the area.
Property News, the free property newspaper serving the city,
will continue to be delivered within the Birmingham News, adding to the value of
the publication and its reader and advertiser appeal.
Tony Lennox, Editorial Director of Midland Weekly Media,
publishers of The Birmingham News, said: "Our objective is to make the
Birmingham News more relevant in the local communities of Birmingham. We will
aim to be much more of a local paper, with three editions specifically for the
suburbs in the north, the south-west and the south-east of the city."
"At the same time we will continue to offer full coverage of
events in the city itself. Not only will this give our readers a much more
focused local newspaper, it will also offer our advertisers more choices and
better value."
