Metro, the UK's free urban national weekday paper, has joined
forces with Trinity Mirror to launch two new editions.
The launches will take place in Liverpool and Cardiff in
March.
Metro is a unique newspaper, targeted at young, affluent and
'urbanite' readers.
It offers the latest national and international news - along
with local information on entertainment listings, weather and travel - tightly
written in a digestible format to provide a concise 20-minute read.
More than a million copies are already distributed in 13 of
Britain's major cities every weekday morning.
It is available between 6am and 10am from Monday to Friday at
key city centre locations.
The new titles will be written and produced by Metro UK's
editorial team based in London, and printed and distributed by Trinity Mirror's
Liverpool and Cardiff businesses. The print run will be 25,000 copies daily in
each city.
National ad sales will be handled by Metro, with Trinity Mirror
selling local advertising.
Georgina Harvey, Trinity Mirror's Managing Director, Regional
Newspapers, said: "Following our other successful partnerships with Metro UK
across Britain, we're delighted to team up once again.
"This exciting addition to our portfolio allows us to tap into
an affluent, young, 'urbanite' demographic, enhancing our offering to
advertisers, deepening our presence in the local markets, and opening up
significant new revenue streams."
Steve Auckland, Metro's Managing Director, said: "We're
delighted to be extending our footprint even further across the UK, which comes
hot on the heels of our Dublin launch.
"Trinity Mirror have always been strong advocates of the Metro
proposition and our launches take place at an excellent time with the enormous
development in South Wales and Liverpool."
