As part of the NORAS 2006 survey, independent traffic auditors
ABCe have reported that once again fish4jobs is the UK's most popular
recruitment website, recording over 1.6 million jobseekers unique visitors in a
month, a 22% increase since their 2005 audit.
fish4 CEO, Joe Slavin commented:
"We're delighted that more and more jobseekers are using fish4
every year and finding jobs that work for them. Interestingly, the NORAS survey
reveals that out of all the general interest job boards, fish4 stands out as
having a really unique demographic audience.
"This stems from our local footprint in the marketplace stamped
through local newspapers that are read by over 30m people and local newspaper
websites that generate an amazing 8m unique users per month. Other generalist
recruitment websites like Monster will generate interest in vacancies, but
candidates may be just as likely to apply from Birmingham, Alabama (USA) as from
Birmingham, West Midlands. fish4jobs clearly has a unique local audience that
can be leveraged by local employers up and down the UK."
The future is certainly looking bright for fish4jobs. Not only
do they continue to increase the number of candidates visiting their site,
they've also recently introduced a raft of new products and services designed to
bring advertisers and jobseekers together quickly and efficiently. These include
a CV database with over 110k registrations in the last 6 months alone and highly
targeted advertiser email solutions to their 600k 'myfish4' registered
candidate base.
"It's great news that we're still the UK's biggest audited
site," says Sean Mahon, fish4's Marketing Director. "But that's not the whole
story as far as we're concerned. Delivering quality response to our recruitment
advertisers is what we're in business to do. We're essentially a marketplace,
and it's only through real understanding of the profile of our jobseekers and
our client requirements that we can bring the two together."
The NORAS 2006 survey highlights some of the key characteristics
that typical fish4 jobseekers exhibit compared to those that use other
generalist job sites:
- fish4jobs has a user base that is evenly spread
across the whole of the UK including London, unlike other job sites that tend to
be adversely weighted towards the South East
- 60% of users are female reflecting the increased
numbers of women in the UK workplace looking for roles that suit their
lifestyles
- they're young - 61% of fish4's users are between 16
and 34 years old
- they're big readers of newspapers
- when it comes to earnings fish4's users are a good
reflection of the UK workforce, with 63% taking home up to £20k pa
- fish4jobs attracts users from a wide variety of
industries but is particularly strong in the retail, engineering, customer
service, IT, sales, transport and secretarial/admin sectors
- although the majority are looking for full time
roles (69%), a significant number (19%) are looking for part time employment -
again a reflection of how fish4 is in tune with the changing employment
landscape that exists in the UK today
- 27% of users claimed 'ease of use' as the main
reason they chose fish4 - higher than any other site surveyed
- finally, 48% of fish4 users have successfully secured a job after applying for a role online
"Our strength is in delivering quality, local responses for our recruiters from real people in real towns and cities up and down the UK," Mahon added. "If you need local retail, sales, secretarial or call centre staff in Newcastle, Newquay or Norfolk you won't find a better solution than fish4."
Along with three other regional newspaper groups, Trinity Mirror
is a quarter shareholder in Fish4.
