Trinity Mirror branding blend

MGN Digital launches Mirror Downloads channel

MGN Digital has launched Mirror Downloads, a new and exciting digital downloads channel, on Mirror.co.uk.

The site has teamed up with some of the most innovative and respected companies in the industry - Tunetribe.com, Audible and Bore Me - to position itself as a market-leading download portal.

Brimming with music from both signed and unsigned artists, podcasts, audio books and viral content, the downloads environment will appeal to Mirror.co.uk's large audience of ABC1 professionals who are fully paid-up members of the i-pod generation.

The partnership with Tunetribe.com, one of the most innovative download companies, will provide a jointly branded area of the site with a full mp3 download service, album reviews and music features.

In addition there will be an "unsigned" section for bands and artists where they can sell and promote their own music.

The joint venture with Audible, the market leader in downloadable audio books, will initially focus on comedy and celebrity-related content - which includes an exclusive second series to Ricky Gervais's record-breaking podcast show.

Bore Me, the most recognised viral hub in the UK, will provide the viral content on the site.
The Mirror Downloads channel will also educate and reassure those still unfamiliar with downloading.

A number of step-by-step guides will soon be featured to walk users through the download revolution, and also to answer questions or problems they may have - these will include guides to using your credit card on-line, watching out for viruses and protecting your data.
Steve Purcell, Editor of Mirror.co.uk, said: "This really is an exciting step forward for the website and for our army of users.

"We now offer not only the greatest editorial content but also a whole area geared towards music and comedy downloads.

"This development shows our ongoing commitment to our online audience by creating a fun, informative and interactive website."

Neil Kleiner, Digital Content Manager for MGN, said: "This is just the beginning - we will continue to forge innovative partnerships with strong and proven content providers.  And most importantly, we will be there to help our users and take them with us as new technologies evolve."
