Daily Record launches car website

The Daily Record has today launched its innovative new Road Record website, www.roadrecord.co.uk.

The site, which includes pioneering and cutting edge features, is dedicated to helping Scots find the best deals on buying and selling cars.

Designed and developed by full service digital agency Storm ID, www.stormid.com, the website provides powerful search tools and guided navigation making it easier than ever for people to find the right car, at the right price and in the right location.

This includes the use of predictive searching, tag clouds and shortlists to highlight popular searches based on car make, model, price and location.

Pooling car details from over 200 car dealerships, Road Record includes a dedicated PDA version of the service, www.roadrecord.co.uk/m allowing private sellers to take photos on their mobiles and then upload them to their vehicle listing straight away.

Sellers can also add videos of their cars creating a more personal and engaging advertisement.

Providing a streamlined sales service, private and trade sellers can register and pay for ads online using the e-commerce functionality that has been integrated into the site.

Stephen Watson, Group Head Motors, Daily Record & Sunday Mail, said: "This is an exciting extension to the Daily Record's online offering as the site will be a useful tool to our users.

"Road Record is easy to use and will help our audience find the best car deals available to them which is now more important than ever, particularly considering the current economic climate".

Simon Wall, Director at Storm ID commented "Storm ID are delighted to have been selected to design and develop this exciting and high profile website. As a company we are proud of the innovative search application that we have developed and anticipate that it will result in a profitable online marketplace for buying and selling cars in Scotland."

After an initial search, buyers can further refine their requirements by using the site's impressive number of vehicle classification filters, topping many of the competing websites in the market.

Filters include location, seller type, make, model, prices, year, colour, body style, transmission and fuel type. Buyers holding out for the perfect car can also set up search notifications ensuring that they receive details of the latest cars on the market to their mobile phone or email account.
