Our Regionals division publishes a vibrant and diverse portfolio of market leading brands in print and digital media across the UK with more than 130 regional daily and weekly newspapers and over 500 digital products.

Our iconic print brands sit at the heart of their communities, forming part of the fabric of everyday life for thousands of people across the UK. Key titles include the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool Daily Post, Manchester Evening News, Newcastle Journal, Evening Chronicle, Western Mail, Birmingham Mail, Birmingham Post, Coventry Telegraph and the Paisley Daily Express. In addition we publish six Metro titles across the UK in Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool, Cardiff, Trafford and Scotland.

Our digital portfolio includes companion websites to our key newspaper titles, hyperlocal sites serving specific postcodes and communities and local sites in the key verticals of recruitment, property and motors and national sites in recruitmentand property.

The completion of the GMG Regional Media acquisition on 28 March 2010 added a further 30 newspaper titles and over 40 websites.

Our regional free and paid for newspapers have a weekly circulation of 6.4 million copies and readership of 7.7 million. In our key markets our brands have a significant reach amongst the adult population in their geographies, reaching on a weekly basis 58% in Scotland, 73% in the North East, 86% in the North West, 70% in the Midlands, 71% in South Wales and 56% in the South. The strength of our brands and highly motivated professional workforce has been recognised by numerous industry awards during the period, including several awards at the Newspaper Society Awards and the Press Gazette Regional Press Awards.

Our print titles are complemented by a fast growing digital portfolio which extends our reach across our local markets. These comprise:

  • 80+ newspaper companion websites with unique editorial propositions which complement our key newspaper brands. Plus they provide postcode level personalisation and local maps with geo tagged content right down to street level.
  • 100+ hyper-local sites which serve specific postcodes and communities with highly relevant, local editorial and user generated content. These sites are designed to be an indispensable guide to their communities and provide precision geographic targeting to local advertisers.
  • vibrant classified sites in the key areas of recruitment, property and motors plus important local services such as births, marriages and deaths
  • 11 mobile sites providing users with regularly-updated local news and tailored, personalised information

To further strengthen our digital position in recent years we have acquired a number of national digital businesses in the key revenue categories of recruitment and property. In recruitment we are creating the UK's largest network of specialist job sites, including leading brands such as GAAPweb, TotallyLegal, TotallyFinancial, PlanetRecruit, Secsinthecity and The Careerengineer. Additionally, we own Fish4, which publishes one of the UK's leading national recruitment sites, Fish4Jobs. In property we publish Smartnewhomes, the UK's leading site for new homes.
